why can't people just focus on the positive?
this forum has a cancerous undercurrent of bitterness and insecurity.. even the festival section is infected with this endless propensity to insult others to make users feel better about themselves.
this is NOT what i thought this entire genre/culture was about, but i am realising the harsh truth that it is rotten to the core.
you people need to learn to love and understand... your negativity is inextricably interwoven with the "commercialism" you so detest.
peace LOVE unity RESPECT!!!!!
does nobody in this place agree with me? if this is true then goodbye isratrance...
@a3k - you're admin, a "leader" in certain respects. i'd expect more from someone in your position.. but you revel in the debased attitude of the lowest common denominator. difficile est non saturam scribere |

Good luck with this Freedom Festival crew. I hope you sort out the issues you had this year with security (i.e. the aggression of security personel) and drugs, but 2005 and 2007 were incredible experiences.

yes i agree focus on the positive aspects of our culture, not to the comercialism it took place of it - more and more artists are turning this beloved culture into a circus of fooling people and after the euros/money - they really don´t care if they destroy it with very weak artists.i respect the tastes of everybody, but the link i gave (and i hope you read it Caligula, it is just an example of so many others opinions)is just an example of how an artist can "fool" their fans, by not giving them psychedelic music but euro trance.
and don´t take personally the opinions of others, i speak for myself - i don´t think i treated you badly or been rude with you.
i believe you have to deal better with the opinions of others, when specially are showing the "rotten to the core" of the artists that are givin us music.i am sorry but this is not the vision i have of our culture, and when people keep defending their opinions i have the right to defend mines - and me being a moderator, doesn´t mean i don´t have right to my opinion and it won´t be a tittle that i have or being orange that i won´t give my opinion.
and i have learned to love and respect others, but when see people killing and destroying the things i love i know i can not do much, but i will keep on giving my opinions respectfully and polite.

@Caligula
Where do you see any disrespect?
Are we not in title to give our opinion? Or state our preferences? Do i have to agree with everyone? You are right about one thing if the line-up will be the same im not going but until there im sharing my wishes....for what is worth!!!
The people who like this music (pop-trance) should not be offended by the term, the music is what it is....assume it and move on!!! Im sorry to upset you but the likes of Dali or Skazi are mediocre. I dont wish them anything bad but i dont have to understand it or agree with it. You say they should improve in certain questions.Agree. What about the music? I dont care if it is comercial or not just if it is good or not. Someone has diferent views? Good, state them here....
I was left with the feeling the Freedom crew wishes to "polish" their concept with every new edition of the festival and become a "valid" date in the psy-calendar. For me having good music is a must. Im sorry but i really dont see myself or the culture in music like Dali or the Pop-trance "acts". So in the end its up to the org to decide what sort of festival/gathering they are and up to us to go or not....and to give our opinion about it.
Love&light to you Caligula
Keep it psycadelic, keep it alternative. Psy-culture came from there....a contra-culture!!! I myself dont want to loose that...

sorry i'm being misunserstood. firstly @ a3k, i apologise, i shouldnt have read too far into the link you posted. i take back what i said.
it must be noted that i AGREE with the comments about dali's playing. i just don't agree with the manner in which it is expressed. i AGREE that a lot of music at freedom festival was commercial and that acts like dali and skazi are mediocre. however, i don't agree with labelling an entire festival as "pop" when acts such as shift, pitch-hikers, azax syndrom, seroxat, daksinamurti (or a large proportion of the actual dj's for that matter), absolum and many others are excellent acts who really gave good performances.
my point is this: why must everybody reduce themselves to insults to make their opinions heard? give a contructive analysis of why dali should NOT be booked, or reasons WHY skazi is mediocre without categorising and labelling them as such - which is essentially meaningless and unproductive.
this is a thread advertising the 2009 freedom festival, not a place for people to voice their opinions about how their taste in music does not correspond with the festival organisers'.
please let me reiterate that i share the opinions with many of these people, but they would do well not to lower themselves to personal insults. i am equally angered by "fake" live sets, and music engineered to only sell, rather than exist as an artform independently. I didn't enjoy many of the acts at freedom festival, however I find it ironic that those who so callously voice their disapproval knew of the lineup months in advance and yet still travelled there to be disappointed. Why were they surprised when psycraft was billed to play and actually played? this shows a fair level of ignorance, and it is not acceptable that these people comment as they have. it is like renting a dvd you saw at the movies and hated, and then moaning that is was terrible. it is an illogical approach to debate.
I fully (!) advocate the exchange of ideas and opinion, and i acknowledge our tastes are all vastly different when it comes to art, but people somehow seem to disregard respect and dignity, the cornerstones of wisdom, when they express their disapproval, rather than positively and constructively doing so. We should be endeavouring to move forward...
plur.

According to mi opinion, this festival is everything that can granted that they going to have it full...in terms of line-up...coz the only energy that flow on this org spirit is making money, so...that is a very commercial reason...for me.
It's really a Commercial Festival...when the only Trance "spirit" is the one that all the public bring with him, coz org wise....no comments...
Well, but like i said, is only my opinion...and of course that for lots of ppl it's a great festival...
So...please keep it the way it is...coz all the ppl have the right to have an event where the can have it...

I think BOOM is much more comercial...
150E on door , the org refuses to pay more than 500€ per dj and 1000€ per live, 20 000 people.
If FREEDOM is comercial BOOOM is MACDONALDS of FESTIVALS |

^^ yep sure, you have a point, but looking at the whole aspects: security, sound system, artists, workshops, restaurants, real lagoon , shops, psynemas, "3 dancefloors", lots and lots of showers, i mjean real conditions, and above all a reputation that precedes Portugal.
BOOM is the obvious choise, but yes you are right, lot of money for a festival - and i bet next year will be even more expensive, but it is just a thought
